Doing the Tutorial Without a Java Bean Design Tool

The tutorial assumes you are using a Java Bean Design Tool to create the distributed data exchange application with Xbeans. Rather than using a tool you can write the code it generates by hand.

It is really not that hard.

Whenever the tutorial indicates that you should add an Xbean to your application by selecting the Xbean icon, simply instantiate the Xbean in the code. For example, if the tutorial says to add the Viewer Xbean, simple write this code:

import org.xbeans.viewer.ViewerBean;
ViewerBean viewer = new ViewerBean();

Whenever the tutorial indicates that you should set an Xbean property using the property editor, simply write the line of code to set it. For example, to set the next Xbean after the viewer, you need to call the setDOMListener method:

viewer.setDOMListener(nextXbean);

The APIs to each Xbean are documented here.

Now go back and complete the tutorial!
